Change is Coming

Scriptorium Pens is making some changes! I am in the process of transitioning to a mostly stock pen business model.  I will still take a few custom pen orders, but only as time allows. My focus will be on making stock pens from now on.

These stock pens will be equipped with JoWo #6 Steel Nibs, and will continue to be tuned by the wonderful Mark Bacas, Nibgrinder, for smoothness and flow. I will no longer be offering any 14k, 18k, or Titanium nibs, by JoWo, Bock, or Magna Carta. Customers will need to source these nibs and arrange for tuning themselves.  I will continue to make grip sections for custom orders to accommodate Bock & Magna Carta #8 nibs, but will not provide the nibs themselves. This is effective today, Oct. 30, 2025.

On Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, I will be participating in International Fountain Pen Day, as usual, and will offer $15 off any orders placed on that day, Central Daylight Time.

Beginning Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, I will be putting a temporary hold on custom pen orders. I will reopen the ordering of custom pens in January of 2026.

So, Scriptorium Pens is still here, making fun pens in all kinds of materials. It was just time for a change to the setup.

Cigar Shaped Pens are Back!

Just a quick post:

After a lot of customer requests, I’ve decided to bring the very popular cigar shaped pens out of retirement. Those are the Sonneteer, Troubadour, and Zephyr.  I had originally retired them because the way that I make them, with hand files for shaping, causes the Rheumatoid Arthritis in my shoulders to really act up and is very painful. The people have spoken, though, so those pens are now available again. 😊

Pen Addict Article: Meet Your Maker

The Pen Addict website has a new “Meet Your Maker” article up about Scriptorium Pens. It was a lot of fun talking with Caroline Foty about pens and the business, and I’m honored that they chose to do an article on Scriptorium Pens. Check it out!
